Volcanoes and Waterfalls

Experience the fascinating history, stunning landscapes, and local flavors of the Golan Heights. This tour combines ancient ruins, breathtaking views, and delicious local products into an unforgettable day.

We begin the day at the Entrance to the Golan, where you’ll visit a Syrian military post where we’ll discuss Eli Cohen, the legendary Israeli spy, and his impact on Israel’s security. From here, take in the panoramic view of the Yarmouk River and the surrounding terrain, where you can reflect on the area’s military history and its strategic importance.

Next, we head to Gamla, often referred to as the “Masada of the North.” Explore the ruins of this ancient Jewish stronghold, set against dramatic cliffs with breathtaking views of the surrounding valley. Learn about the pivotal battle that took place here during the Great Revolt against the Romans and the heroic efforts of the Jewish defenders.

Afterward, enjoy a visit to the Golan Heights Winery, located in the town of Katzrin, the heart of the Golan Heights. This winery produces some of the finest wines in Israel, and you'll have the chance to taste a selection of their exceptional offerings. Learn about the winemaking process, the region’s volcanic soil, and how these factors contribute to the unique flavors of Golan wines.

Finally, we make our way to Mount Bental, a dormant volcano and former Israeli military outpost offering panoramic views of the Golan Heights and the Syrian border. As you take in the sweeping vistas, learn about the historical significance of this site and its role in past conflicts. You’ll also have time to explore the remnants of the military installations, which serve as a reminder of the region’s turbulent past.
